We’re delighted to announce that The Hut Group has been named Google Cloud Retailer of the Year at the Retail Week Tech Awards, 2018. The prestigious annual award recognises a retailer that is leading the way in delivering a seamless customer experience for its shoppers, and which stands out for its ability to harness technology to drive revenue and operational efficiency.
While it’s always an honour to earn industry recognition, we’re particularly pleased to receive an award that places emphasis on the importance of technology and innovation in the retail space. THG Ingenuity’s best-in-class technology platform has, of course, been pivotal in establishing The Hut Group as a global digital commerce giant. Our cutting-edge digital ecosystem has provided the basis for the astonishing growth seen in THG’s brands and retail sites over the last decade. The award is thus testament to the fact that Ingenuity’s proprietary technology offering occupies a unique position in the market, and is proven to deliver consistent and scalable growth.
The award comes off the back of a number of key strategic acquisitions for The Hut Group. Following the purchase of Hangar 7, a leading creative content agency, in April 2017, THG has acquired a web hosting company, UK2, as well as the localisation giant, Language Connect. Each acquisition has added to Ingenuity’s unrivalled capacity to provide a truly end-to-end service to some of the world’s leading businesses.
George MacDonald, Executive Editor at Retail Week said: “The Hut Group has led retail in technology innovation and building a business through digital channels, not just in the UK but overseas. It’s a Great British tech success story. From its Northwest base, it has blazed a trail and shown that innovation and disruption is not limited to Silicon Roundabout.”
THG Ingenuity’s CEO, Darren Rajanah, who collected the award, said: “It’s a tremendous honour to be recognised by Retail Week in this way. Ingenuity has been at the centre of The Hut Group’s extraordinary rise over the last decade, and we’re extremely proud of the way we’ve innovated both as a division and a company.
