We’re delighted to announce that The Hut Group has been named The Google Cloud International Growth Retailer of the Year at the Retail Week Awards, 2019. The prestigious annual award celebrates the overseas successes of UK retailers, and recognises the most impressive international operator.
The award comes after monumental year for THG; one which saw a host of strategic acquisitions and more behind-the-scenes investment centred on fuelling international growth. Central to the Group’s continued global expansion has been Ingenuity’s best-in-class technology and fulfilment infrastructure – which now includes production and distribution centres located in Eastern Europe, Asia, the United States, and Australia.
Built up over a decade, our wholly-owned digital ecosystem and technology stack now supports 160 localised websites in 35 languages, using 42 currencies across 30 payment methods. This cutting-edge infrastructure has provided the basis for the astonishing growth seen in THG’s brands and retail sites, and is now being used to support and transform some of the world’s largest FMCG brands.
The award comes off the back of a number of key acquisitions for The Hut Group. Following the purchase of Hangar 7, a leading creative content agency, in April 2017, THG went on to acquire a web hosting company, UK2, as well as the localisation specialists, Language Connect. Each acquisition has added to Ingenuity’s unrivalled capacity to provide a truly seamless e-commerce experience to customers around the world.
In selecting THG for the award, the Retail Week judges singled-out the Group’s staggering growth and remarkable consistency. “The Hut Group is truly international,” one of the judges said. “That consistency over a period of time is something to be valued, especially at the moment. A lot of retailers are finding things hard, but this is a good successful retailer. It shows no sign of peaking.”
