About Infrastructure Projects / DCOPs / Infrastructure Project Engineer
As an IT Infrastructure Project Engineer, you will be working as part of a dynamic team of infrastructure and datacentre project engineers as well as alongside internal IT Infrastructure teams and 3rd party consultants. The role will require travel to various sites across the UK for meetings, workshops, and installations while working on construction and internal fit out projects. This will very occasionally require the ability to stay away from home, both in the UK and abroad.
As part of the role you will learn about the RIBA project framework and how different ICT infrastructure designs are developed and implemented. You will be expected to develop your skills working on construction and internal IT infrastructure fit out projects to provide design and installation support, and site-based support working alongside senior members in the team.
Responsibilities:
- Help develop and define business requirements and processes.
- Help prepare, validate and update cabling design documentation and technical specifications, including creating and amending 2D and 3D drawings and updating project reports where applicable.
- Conduct site surveys, report on the progress of installations, and perform snagging to ensure applicable standards are met.
- Help design and co-ordinate IT infrastructure installations in offices, warehouses and datacentres which will include:
- Network equipment
- Server equipment
- Server room infrastructure (UPS/PDUs)
- Provide onsite troubleshooting assistance to other IT infrastructure teams.
- Professional representation at technical, design and weekly project meetings with colleagues, clients, and contractors.
- Plan site visits and coordinate meetings to include travel arrangements and preparing and updating reports and completing risk assessments.
- Complete all administrative tasks to include submitting timesheets and expenses and project updates accurately and on time.
Role Requirements:
- A basic understanding of structured cabling systems and associated support systems:
- Copper and fibre cabling media and cable testing
- Containment systems
- Network/Server Cabinets
- Active network equipment
- An understanding of passive and active network components and basic installation tasks
- Strong verbal and written communication skills. You must be confident and feel comfortable conversing on the telephone, via email and face-to-face as well as to be able to write concise reports.
- Health & Safety and Contractor Management
- Good general IT skills using a range of Applications (Word / Excel / Outlook / Teams / Visio / Confluence)
- It is imperative that you can demonstrate that you have a good attention to detail and enjoy problem solving technical and non-technical issues.
- You must be a team player but, it is important that you can work on your own initiative to include prioritising work and adhering to deadlines.
- You will be reliable, self-motivated and flexible.
- Able to work under pressure.
