Role Summary:
We are looking for a technically skilled and adaptable Photographic Assistant who can confidently support across lighting setups, digital capture workflows, and still life shooting. You must have strong working knowledge of Capture One, and be capable of independently shooting SKU and still life photography when required. This is a hands on role in a fast paced studio, supporting the production of high quality, consistent content across e-commerce and creative briefs.
This is a client facing role and the candidate must be confident in their abilities and capable of dealing with client requests on set.
Key Responsibilities:
Digital Capture (Digi Assistant):
- Confidently manage Capture One sessions, including tethering, naming conventions, color profiling, and data input.
- Monitor image quality, exposure, and focus in real time, flagging any issues.
- Handle file processing, backup, and organisation to studio standards.
- Ensure accurate color consistency across different product types.
Lighting & Studio Setup:
- Support photographers with lighting setup and modification across flash and continuous light sources.
- Follow lighting briefs and adapt setups for varied model & still life (e.g. On model, flat lay, upright product, reflective items).
- Maintain studio equipment, cabling, and general shoot space safety and organisation.
Still Life / SKU Photography:
- Step in to shoot SKU and still life product imagery independently to brand standards.
- Follow lighting diagrams, guidelines, and style references to maintain visual consistency.
- Work with stylists or art direction when available, or self style simpler product setups.
- Handle a range of products (e.g. apparel, accessories, homeware) with care and efficiency.
Skills & Experience:
- Strong knowledge of Capture One Pro and digital workflows.
- Demonstrable experience in SKU and still life product photography.
- Working knowledge of studio lighting equipment (e.g. Broncolor, Profoto, Aputure).
- Basic familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (particularly Photoshop and Bridge).
- Highly organised and efficient with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure in a high volume studio environment.
- Clear communicator with a proactive, problem solving attitude.
Desirable:
- Retouching experience (basic cropping, colour correction, cleanup).
- Experience with reflective or complex products (e.g. jewellery, glassware).
- Familiarity with ecommerce production processes and KPIs.
- Creative Force or like for like systems.
