About the Role

The Head of Solutions - Automation will play a pivotal role in driving growth in the robotics and automation division of THG Ingenuity. This role combines technical understanding with commercial acumen, ensuring that customer operational needs are translated into effective, innovative, and scalable automation solutions.

The position will focus on selling Autostore and Libiao robotics solutions - fully supported by THG Ingenuity’s proprietary WMS/WCS/OMS platforms - to third-party clients while also contributing to THG’s own 3PL automation proposals. In addition, they will support our core solution offering for 3PL transfers into one of our own facilities, developing the operational solution and assisting the commercial team with the required financial modelling.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Strategy Director, you will:

  • Customer Engagement & Needs Analysis
    • Engage directly with prospective and existing clients to understand operational requirements, challenges, and growth ambitions.
    • Conduct site visits, operational assessments, and workshops to gather data and align customer needs with THG Ingenuity’s automation capabilities.

  • Solution Design & Simulation
    • Translate customer requirements into conceptual and detailed automation designs.
    • Work closely with design engineers to model and simulate Autostore and Libiao robotics solutions, supported by THG’s WMS/WCS.
    • Develop business cases and ROI models to demonstrate value and cost efficiency of proposed solutions.

  • Proposal Development & Presentation
    • Build and deliver tailored proposals, including system designs, cost models, and implementation plans.
    • Present solutions clearly to customer stakeholders at all levels (operational, technical, and executive).
    • Act as a trusted advisor, ensuring customers understand both the operational and commercial benefits.

  • Collaboration & Internal Alignment
    • Partner with THG Ingenuity’s operations, software, and engineering teams to ensure solutions are feasible, scalable, and aligned with long-term strategy.
    • Stay up to date with internal technologies and operational capabilities to accurately reflect THG’s strengths in proposals.
    • Contribute to the development of 3PL proposals by integrating automation into broader operational solutions.

  • Market & Business Development
    • Identify new business opportunities within THG’s 3PL customer base and external networks.
    • Maintain awareness of emerging automation technologies and competitor offerings to position THG Ingenuity as a market leader.
    • Support revenue and margin growth targets by securing profitable automation solution contracts.

 

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Strong commercial background with experience in solution sales, ideally within automation, robotics, logistics, or supply chain.
  • Ability to digest technical informationand translate it into customer-centric solutions.
  • Experience working with Autostore, robotics systems (e.g., Libiao), WMS, WCS, or OMS platformsis highly desirable.
  • Skilled in building ROI models, business cases, and costed proposals.
  • Confident in presenting complex solutionsto diverse audiences, from operational teams to executive boards.
  • Collaborative mindset, capable of working cross-functionally with engineers, software developers, and operations specialists.
  • Knowledge of 3PL operations and fulfillment processes (picking, packing, sortation, storage) beneficial.
