About Operations:

The Operations division is at the heart of our customers' experience here at THG. We dispatch to our customers in over 200 countries worldwide from our purpose-built, innovative distribution centres. 

The Team Manager (TM) leads and is responsible for all aspects of their area of supervision. The safety of all Personnel, Customers, Visitors and Contractors whilst on site is of the utmost importance, ensuring all interactions are safe and effective.

Team Managers work with other internal departments and stakeholders to ensure agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and standards are achieved, prioritising customer experience, improving stock integrity and meeting Service Level Agreements (SLAs).


Team managers are accountable for aligning area specific operational objectives with business needs, setting expectations for their work area to ensure goals are achieved to the highest standard, and breeding a continuous improvement culture.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & People Management

  • Lead, motivate, and develop operational teams to achieve performance targets
  • Conduct regular team briefings, coaching sessions, and 1-2-1 meetings
  • Manage employee performance, attendance, and engagement
  • Support talent development and identify progression opportunities within the team
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and high-performing team culture
  • Deputise for Shift Managers when required

Health & Safety

  • Champion a strong health & safety culture across the operation
  • Ensure compliance with all site safety procedures and operational standards
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and implement corrective actions
  • Conduct regular floor walks and safety audits to maintain a safe working environment

Operational Excellence

  • Drive operational performance against KPIs including service, quality, productivity, and cost
  • Monitor workflows and resource allocation to meet operational demand
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensure operational systems and equipment are effectively utilised and maintained
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to resolve operational challenges

Quality & Customer Focus

  • Maintain high standards of quality and stock accuracy
  • Support inventory integrity and minimise operational waste
  • Ensure customer orders are processed accurately and efficiently
  • Escalate and resolve operational issues impacting service delivery

What We’re Looking For

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience leading teams within a warehouse, logistics, manufacturing, or operational environment
  • Strong communication and people management skills
  • Ability to make decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Experience managing performance and driving operational KPIs
  • Good understanding of health & safety procedures and compliance
  • Comfortable using operational systems and Microsoft Office tools

Desirable

  • IOSH qualification or similar health & safety certification
  • Experience with warehouse management systems and reporting tools
  • Formal leadership or management training
  • Degree or equivalent experience
